The Winter Season program is designed specifically to improve individual player skills by emulating street soccer played throughout the world. Street soccer is normally played with small goals and 4-5 players on each team. The game is very fast paced and normally shorter than a regulation soccer game. To emulate this, the Winter Season program plays 5 vs 5 on a small field with no goal keeper. Each team has maximum of 9 players, with the coach substituting players as needed. Each player will play a minimum of half the game and a team must have a minimum of 3 players to compete. The game is played without the offside rule and all fouls result in an indirect free kick.
Registration for the Winter Season takes place in the Oct/Nov. An e-mail to all AYSO Parents is sent with the registration information. Coaches are encouraged to e-mail their teams when the date is published. The season runs approx. for 6 weeks from January until the middle of February.
The Winter Season program rules are in accordance with the FIFA Laws of the Game and AYSO guidelines, with additional modifications made specific for the winter program. Each game is played with a 5 minute break between halves.
Note that no refunds are provided for the Winter Season program.
